First Day of School

Well the 2010-2011 School Year has started. Both kids are happy with their teachers. So we are hoping for a good year. Something new this year, the kids are riding the bus. Since we moved, we are in bus territory, which is just wonderful. The bus picks them up in the morning and off they go. Surprisingly they both want to ride the bus home, which is also very nice.
Max is in 6th grade this year(WOW, time goes by) and Emily is in 3rd grade. Jack will be going to preschool, but preschool doesn't start till after Labor Day.

Ok so I'm a little behind, but before I try to catch up you have to see this video of Jack singing one of his recent favorite songs. I catch him singing this at least once a day while he is playing. I think he has a little crush. Megan Coupebabysat the kids one night when we went out and ever since then Jack talks about Megan Coupe. But when we see Megan Coupe, Jack plays shy. He knows how to work the girls.

It seems like it has been forever since we have seen the sun. In fact I can't remember the last time we had a day when it wasn't foggy or storming. So finally this week the sun came through the clouds. Oh it was so glorious. So nice to get out of the house.

Tropical Lifesavers

So a couple of weekends ago, Ed was out of town and the kids and I had stopped at Walgreen's and next to the register was a couple of boxes of different flavors of Lifesavers. They had Tropical, it has been forever since I have seen Tropical Lifesavers.(maybe because having little kids you don't usually buy hard candies) Since the kids had never had them and they were 3 for $1.00(bargain I know), we just had to buy them. Oh the wonderful flavors, pineapple is of course my favorite and melon too. And of course the kids enjoyed them too.

Christmas In Idaho

This year for Christmas we headed to Boise, Idaho to visit Poppi and Grandma. The trip there was quite a long one(4 hours to Reno and it's usually 2), but we finally made it and were so happy to see Poppi and Grandma. Aunt Wendy, Uncle Dave and Cooper joined us, which made for quite a full house. It was a really fun and busy week. We got together with Uncle Eric, Aunt Katie and Tanner almost everyday. Aunt Katie's family was up also so there were lots of people to visit with. All of the kids did really well and it was so good to see Tanner and Cooper. Such BIG cute boys. While we were there, we went up to McCall for a day in the snow. Poppi found the perfect place, although the temperature was not so perfect. How about 7 degrees?!!! Oh boy was it cold. The kids had a great time sledding. By the time we left though poor Coopers cheeks were as blue as can be. So many memories were made this Christmas and I am so very thankful that we got to spend it with everyone. Looking forward to more Christmas' like this one.

Thanksgiving weekend we headed up to Rainbow Ridge in Grass Valley to cut down our tree. Since we were traveling to Idaho this Christmas we weren't going to get a tree, but I just couldn't go without. It was a beautiful day out and lots of fun and memories.

Jack is finicky little eater. But there is one thing he loves, Neighbors Pizza. We have bought pizza's from other places(sorry Brian and Julie)and he won't eat them, but Neighbors he will eat at least two pieces at a sitting. We had it for dinner last night and then Jack had some more this morning for breakfast. If Jack will eat it he can have it whenever he likes.

We were planning on going to Old Sacramento to do our Christmas pictures but the wind was really nasty so we didn't go down there. But we need to get our pictures done so that I could get the cards done, so we headed over to a local park. We had a lot of fun doing them.

Grammy's Birthday Weekend

We recently spenct a wonderful weekend up in Reno celebrating Grammy's 90th Birthday(shhhh she doesn't want anyone to know how old she is). She is just amazing for her age, she doesn't act or look like she is 90. My Aunt Leslie(or as Jack calls her "Aunt Hussy", good thing she has a sense of humor) and my cousins Scott and Brian flew up from Arizona. I haven't seen Scott and Brian in 13 years. They have grown up to be fine young men. They tought my kids some "great" things. It was so nice to spend the weekend with them and catch up with them. I miss all of them already. My Mom and Ken came up and brother Tracy, Rachel and Jessica came up on Saturday. It was a really nice weekend to celebrate with Grammy. This is one very classy lady, who I admire and love very much.

Every year in October we make a couple of trips out to Bishops Pumpkin Farm. It's a huge family favorite and brings back lots of memories. Once upon a time I used to work there. A very cool place to work. It has changed so much since then. The kids have so much fun and this year Jack really got into it. He especially like the train ride. Max might think he's getting too big for it but I think he still enjoys it and Emily enjoys everything she does.

Happy 14th Anniversary to My Hubby

On October 14th Ed and I Celebrated our 14th Wedding Anniversary. We were lucky enough to have my mom take the kids for the weekend and we headed over the mountain to Reno. What a beautiful time year it is up there. On Friday night we ate at John's Oyster Bar and John Ascuagas Nugget. This is our favorite seafood place. It was actually really nice to enjoy our Cioppino without the kids(we love em but a meal without the kids is so very peaceful. I think you actually taste and enjoy your fod more). On Saturday we went to lunch with Grammy and Stan and had a wonderful time. They are two amazing people. I have to say I have the classiest Grammy. After lunch Ed and I headed to his favorite sports store, Scheels. You can literaly spend hours in there. What a really nice weekend away it was. Thank you Ed for these 14 wonderful year.

It's been awhile

Ok so I know it has been awhile and I have lots of pictures I want to put up but, my computer won't take anymore. I guess we have overloaded it. So I am in the process of downloading all of them to the wonderful site Shutterfly, and then order a years worth of pictures on one DVD. What a process. I was thinking about it though, and could you imagine if I was still using 35mm film? The expense of buying the film and then taking it in and having it developed. I don't think we would have nearly the pictures that we do. I love the fact that when I am taking pictures I can delete a picture if I don't like it. I don't know how many times my kids get ahold of my camera and have some fun with it. I don't have to print those pictures, but if it were on 35mm and I had no clue what was on it, oy the surprises I would get and the money that would go bye bye. Boy technology sure has changed our life, in so many ways.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Well on Wednesday August 19th we started another year of school. Max is in the 5th Grade(can you believe that?) and Emily is in the 2nd Grade(that one too?). Emily has Mrs. Borcher which we absolutely love and so she was very eager to go and see all her friends. Max has Mr. Andrade, which we have heard many horror stories about but Max went to school without any problems and showed us how much he has matured. It is hard for us to believe that we have a 5th grader and a 2nd grader. They are growing up way too fast.

I'm sure something smart was said.

It's Big Boy Bed Time

Well a big boy just passed another milestone, he's out of the crib and in a regular bed. We were sorta forced to do it, his crib was part of a huge recall and we had to return it to Target. In return Target gave us a $150 giftcard. Ah gee I don't know what I'm gonna do with that. Target is one of my favorite stores. So off to Ikea we went and picked up a bunk bed for the boys(and had Swedish meatballs too, yummo). Well if you have ever bought Ikea furniture you know it comes in a million different pieces and the object is to make a bed out of them. So Ed got to work and with lots of help, at 9 finished the bed. Time to get everyone ready for bed and into their beds. Jack was so tired that he was ready and just got in there and went right to sleep. Now his parents that's a different story. Your kind've sleeping with one eye or ear open. But Jack slept all night in his new bed. We have had a few not so good nights but all in all it hasn't been too bad of a transition. Jack loves his new bed so he is very good about going to bed. Let me knock on wood.

Jack's First Trip to the Emergency Room(Afraid it won't be his last)

So this last weekend we decided to head to the coast to play on the beach and just have a relaxing weekend. So Saturday we spent a relaxing time Muir Beach and then headed to our hotel in San Rafael. Had a nice evening and everyone slept well(except Ed, who slept with Jack). I had just put the coffee on, Emily and Jack were looking out the window. The coffee pot is a two cup deal where you put the cups on the spout and it fills them up. Well Jacks curiosity got the best of him and he pulled the cup of hot water down on top of himself and burned his head, chest and arm. His arm immediately blistered, so we put him in a bath and packed everything up and called the front desk for directions for the nearest emergency room. Got everything and everybody loaded up and headed to Novato which was just 10 minutes up the road. Lucky for us there weren't any other people there. They put him in a room right away and a doctor came in and said the head and chest were 1st degree burns like sunburns and the arm was a 2nd degree and they would treat it with this white wonder cream and bandage it up. But first they had to make him comfortable, they gave him Tylenol 3 and we waited about 20 minutes for it to relax him. In the process he cried for "Lu". He needed his sissy. She came in and stayed with him while he got all wrapped up. The staff at Novato Community Hospital were great. They asked us what we were going to do the rest of the day, well nothing now. That about wiped us out. Ed and I know that this won't be our last trip to the emergency room with Jack. We have learned our lesson, although we are childproof(as far as we can tell)at home, we need to be more assertive when we are traveling.

Our Trip to Idaho

Mid July the kids and I headed off to Idaho for 10 days(Ed doesn't get vacation in the Summer, so he didn't get to join us). We met up with Poppy in Reno at the Airport, he was nice enough to fly in and drive with us. The drive to Boise is long and there isn't much between Winnemucca and Boise, so I didn't really want do that on my own with young kids.

Poppy and Grandma had reserved a campsite at Payatte Lake and we camped for 6 days. We all had a really great time. This was Jacks first camping trip. I don't know if it was the excitement of it all or what but the first night Jack decided to run a high fever. What fun that was, and what a really long night. He finally shook it off and had lots of fun.

Uncle Eric and Aunt Katie and Tanner and Katie's mom, Jill and her husband Bill came up one day and hung out. The kids and Jill went Huckleberry picking and came back with lots. Which Jack and Emily enjoyed quite a bit. Of course I kept hearing, "mom, we need to head down the bathroom".

On one of the days we went to Cascade Lake and fished, played in the water and sand, and read, and some of us took naps. It was a very relaxing day.

The next day we went to a small lake/pond close to where we were camping and fished. It was a great day of fishing. Emily and Poppy started catching fish right away. Grandma Linda did really well and Jack caught a few. It took Max a little while but soon he was catching them too(although he wouldn't eat or drink until he caught one or two and he paid for it the next day). Brings back memories of a few years ago in Northern Idaho. Emily was so funny, we called her the "worm lady", she would take the worms out of the container but you had to bait your own hook. We caught 15 total, more than enough for dinner. Emily helped clean them and then all of the kids helped Poppy and I cook them. There is nothing better than a dinner of freshly caught fish.

Of course every night we had smores, although Jack mostly had marshmallows. Grandma Linda knows exactly what the kids need for smores.

We made so many great memories and are so thankful for our time with Poppy and Grandma Linda. Can't wait for our next adventure with them.

While we were in Idaho(more on that trip to come) Uncle Eric and Aunt Katie took us down to the community pool to swim one night after dinner. Before we left for our trip we purchased a big brand bodysuit that had styrofoam inside thinking that would help to keep Jack afloat. Wrong. Jack sunk, and when a child takes on too much water well, you know what happens after they cough it all up. Not pretty. I had seen on one of my favorite blogs to follow, thelifeofsuz.blogspot.com, some comments about The Puddle Jumper. Well, I decided we needed to try it out. We absolutely love this thing. It keeps him up and as long as he's moving around he stays upright and as soon as he gets lazy it puts him on his back with his face out of the water. Big thumbs up here.

Max's Idol Steve Holm

On June 2nd we headed off to another Rivercats game. This time they were playing tlhe Fresno Grizzlies. The catcher for the Grizzlies is Steve Holm. Steve as a youngster played Little League in South Sutter with Ed's little brother, Joe. Ed also coached Steve. Max's Grandma Linda was also Steve's elementary school teacher. Max has been following Steve as he has been bounced back and for between the Grizzlies and the San Francisco Giants. Max even picks Steve's number(20) for his Cal Ripken uniform number. We arrived at the game early enough for warm ups and Max was able to get Steve's autograph on a ball. Max was a little timid so he, in all of his excitement forgot to try and tell Steve who he was. It was a another fun night at a Rivercats game and a great night for Max to meet his Idol.

Happy Fathers Day Ed

Let me just start off by saying Happy Father's Day to the most wonderful husband and father. You totally deserved your day as a Rivercat. You do so much for your family, friends and others, without taking time for yourself. I am so very proud of you in everything that you do. I love you Ed Henderson.

Eds Day as a Rivercat

We arrived at Raley Field at 10, and met up with the Rivercats promotions people. Forgive me but I can't remember everyones name, it was a whirlwind of a day. We were taken down to behind the field, and Ed was taken into the clubhouse to change into his uniform. About 15 minutes later he appeared decked out in a full Rivercat uniform. He looked like he belonged in it. He then met the hitting coach and a couple of the players and went through the batting practice with the players. He actually surprised the kids and I and the hitting coach. After all these years he still had it in him. The team let Ed keep the bat he used in batting practice and he had a couple of players sign it. After batting practice, we were introduced to Aubry, who was interning for the summer, and she took us on a tour of the stadium. She showed us the box suites, the press room and the announcers booth. When we were in the announcers booth they showed us where the foul balls had hit the walls inside the booth, each mark(by mark I mean dent in the wall)was marked with the date it happened. It was pretty amazing how far and hard the balls are hit. After our tour, Aubry took us down to the dugout where we waited for the team to arrive. It was interesting to see how things develop and get a behind the scenes glimpse. While we were in the dugout we checked things out and the kids got their picture taken with Dinger the mascot. The kids and I were then taken to our seats as the team was starting to arrive. I went back down to get a picture of Ed in the dugout with the team and the manager Tony DeFrancesco told me to get the kids and come back in. So we all went back in and got pictures with Tony and stood in the dugout during the National Anthem and then went out onto the field and watch as Ed and Tony went out to home plate to exchange line ups with the umpires and opposing managers. While we were waiting for all of this Aubry came running up and asked if Max would call the start of the game(the Honorary Bat Boy had chickened out), before Max could back out I said yes and off they went. What a great addition to an already perfect day. Max belted out "Lets Play Ball" like he'd done it many times before. He did a great job. The kids and I then headed up to our seats while Ed stayed in the dugout for about 3 innings. He said he was amazed at how laid back and quiet it was in there. One of Ed's highlights was, Mark Ellis, who actually plays for the A's(he's in the injured list) came up and introduced himself to Ed. Very down to earth. Ed then headed back to the clubhouse and changed his clothes and then joined us to watch the game. He did get to keep the hat but not the uniform(oh darn). What a wonderful day it was and a once in a lifetime experience. A Fathers Day that none of us will ever forget.

After the game we met up with family and headed out for dinner and it was so nice to see everyone. It was a perfect end to a perfect day.

With a bit of a surprise, Aubry the Rivercats Intern that showed us around came running up minutes before the game started asking if Max would announce the start of the game. It seems the Honorary Bat Boy had chickened out and she needed someone in a pinch. With much coaxing Max agreed to do it. And in front of a packed stadium, Max announced "Let's Play Ball". He did a great job and we are both very proud. His dad got to witness it all from the Rivercat dugout. What a great addition to an already wonderful day.

Our Visit to KCRA

On Wednesday the kids and I went down to KCRA Channel 3(NBC affiliate) to pick up the RiverCat package for the Fathers Day Game. What a neat place. We met up with Jessica Rappaport, KCRA's Marketing Director, and she explained what the package included and of course I had to sign my life away(but for a good cause). The kids received Live Copter 3 toys and pens and balls and other cool things. Everyone at Channel 3 was so very kind. Really nice people. Jessica then gave us a tour and showed us the newsroom, sound room and studio. As we were walking through the newsroom we saw Deirdre Fitzpatrick and Mike Teselle, who at that time was getting ready to do a live shot about a breaking news story. We then went into the control room and watched the producers get ready to do a 10:25 news break. Jessica had to keep giving Jack cookies, just to keep him quiet, they even moved us to the sound room cause keeping a 2 year old quiet is nearly impossible. After the newscast we moved to the studio, Adriane Bankert was just leaving as we were going and we said a quick "hi". The studio was really cool. It was pretty neat to see. By this time Jack was getting antsy so it was time to head out. As we were leaving Dirk Ver Doorn was do the SPCA Pet of the Week in the lobby so we waited for him to finish that. And of course both kids asked if we could adopt the dog. He was awfully cute, but no. As we were walking out we stopped and talked to Dirk and he congratulated the kids. What a nice bunch of people. What a great experience for all of us.

Ed is Going to Be a Rivercat for a Day

So last week the kids on the spure of the moment decided to make a video for KCRA's contest Fathers Day Rivercat for a Day. They planned what they were going to say and after three videos decided on the best one. Well that evening I got an email saying that their video had made the top 3. So I sent out an email to all our friends and family asking them to please vote.(while trying to keep this a secret from Ed) And vote they did. Thanks to all the family and friends, I got an email last night that the kids video had one and Ed gets to be a Rivercat for a day. What does that include? Well 4 tickets, and opportunity to throw out the first pitch, opportunity to go in the clubhouse, attend batting practice and an opportunity to go in the dugout. What a great Fathers Day that will be. The kids are very excited and so was Ed when they told him last night. I'll give an update after the game.

Woo Hoo WHS 20 Year Reunion

Wow has it been that long? This past weekend was so much fun. WHS(Wheatland Union High School)Class of '89 celebrated our 20 Year Reunion. What a blast, it started Friday night with a meet up at Bill's Place in Wheatland. I was so excited to see my good friend Tracy Stoker Adams and her husband Chris, and my best friend from high School Cheryl Coker and her husband Jeremy, which we see often(not often enough). Ed was coaching Max's baseball game so he missed out on that night. I haven't seen Tracy in almost 20 years and miss her dearly. We had dinner and then other alumni joined us, I would name them all but I'm afraid I'll forget someone. We watched some crazy karaoke and then went our separate ways to other bars.

Saturday night was the BIG REUNION. I was totally amazed at how many came. It was so awesome seeing everyone. I don't know what the final count was but I'm guessing it was 80 to 100 people, that's pretty good considering we had a graduating class of I believe 140. What an evening, the food was great the drinks were yummy and the 80's music was awesome and brought back so many memories. I think the most amazing thing is, so many of us live within a 60 mile radius of each other and never run into one another. For instance Cheryl and Lisa Cole live like 2 blocks away from each other. What a great time it all was and I know many of us are talking about another one in 5 years. It was sure great seeing everyone.

June 6th was Jack's 2nd Birthday. Of course we spent it at the ballpark and then in the evening took a trip to Urgent Care. He woke up from his nap with a really snotty nose and both eyes glued shut. Poor guy. Turns out he and his brother both have pink eye, and Jack has a nasty cold to go along with it. What a way to celebrate your birthday.

Max's Science Project

Max had to do a science project on the Deciduous Forest. For the project he had to make a diarama of the forest, and the teacher requeste that most of if not all of it be homemade. Well Max made everthing out of pape and clay and did a great job. He typed everything himself for the report part. We still were working late at night, even though we swore we would start early. And the final grade was a 95. Awesome.

Coupons

I am a huge fan of coupons, and thanks to modern technology there are so many ways to get coupons now. There is the old fashioned way, through the Sunday paper, the internet, and in magazines. One of my favorite internet sites is coupons.com, which if you look to the left I have a link to. Their coupons change periodically so there is always something new. Today I made a trip to Walmart with my coupons and saved over $20 just from using the coupons. That is my average that I save each trip. If I'm shopping at Safeway, I usually just shop the ad with what coupons I have and between there club card and coupons I can do pretty well. So remember the next time you head out to the grocery store don't forget your coupons.

This Easter turned out to be a beautiful day so we decided to take full advantage of it. After some monkey bread and playing around the house we packed up a picnic and our bikes and head up to Chico to play in the park. Bidwell Park in Chico is our favorite park. There is so much to offer including Caper Acres playground, the path along the creek where you can ride bikes or just walk and the One Mile, where in the summer is a great swimming hole. Ed has been going to Bidwell Park since he was a young boy, which is a very long time and he has many wonderful memories of going there with cousins and aunts and uncles and with Grandma Dee living not too far from there. We started out or day with a bike ride along the creek. This was Jack's first ride in the bike seat and he did pretty good for the first mile and then he got ancy so we headed back to the playground and had our picnic and watched the kids play. Max and Emily had a lot of fun playing hide and seek in the fort and Jack enjoyed the little kids portion and just running around because he was free. It turned out to be such a great day. And of course the day would not be complete without a stop at our favorite ice cream shop, Shuberts. Oh so good. This place has been around since Ed was a little kid(and probably longer). Homemade ice cream all the way.

Rainy Sacramento RiverCats Home Opener

For Ed's birthday the kids and I got him tickets to the Sacramento RiverCats home opener. Well it had been raining all day and even spinkled on the way down there. When we finally got through the gates it started to really come down and of course our seats were right down by the field without any type of overhang. We stayed up top and enjoyed some garlic fries(boy were those good) and then the anouncer said there was a 30 minute game delay. So we waited some more. About 15 minutes later the grounds crew started taking the tarp off the field and things were moving. It was still raining but more of a light mist. We headed down to our seats and luckily Ed had grabbed a free newspaper and we dried off our seats. Wow I pick seats, they were 3 rows up from the bottom right next to first base, Max was in heaven with glove in hand. It rained off and on, mostly on throughout the game and we all hung in there. Emily is such a trooper, she sang along to the songs and danced around(I think to keep warm). We finally gave up and left at the 5th inning. It was still fun and we look forward to going again.

It's Almost Like Summer

Last Monday we had a beautiful 80 degree day. Jack and Emily had a great time playing in the yard with the sandbox and water. Funny thing is the next day it turned windy and cold and rained for 3 days.

South Sutter Baseball Opening Day 2009

It was a beautiful day out at the ballpark on Saturday. We couldn't have asked for better weather. Everything went well. Mr. G, the Gecko from the local minor league team The Yuba Sutter Gold Sox threw out the first pitch and Max was the catcher, and what a great catch he made. We have approximately 280 kids in the league this year, the infield was full. Emily had a game at 10:30, so right after the ceremonies we started her game. Its quite a team she's on. Ed is helping coach her team and I think it helped to have him there. Especially when she fell running after the ball and banged her already banged up knee. She did really well, got a hit and made it to first base. I think it will be a great year for her. The Bandits won their first game, way to go Bandits. Max's team had their game right after Emily's. He caught the whole game. What a difference a year makes. He was much more aggressive and stayed on top of the ball. Uncle Tracy was the ump for his game, and he has been many times so I think Max is pretty comfortable with him standing directly behind him. Ed is the coach for Max's team and he did a pretty good job I might say myself. Unfortunately the Diamondbacks lost their game but they gave it their all. All in all it was a great first day of games.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Well Baseball season is upon us. Max is playing Minors and Emily is playing Coach Pitch Softball. Ed is helping coach both teams and still doing all of his other league duties. Max is on the Diamondbacks and Emily is on the Bandits. The Bandits had practice the other night it was so cute they all have pink bat bags and most have pink bats. We have opening day this Saturday, so it is a busy week of getting things ready. One big addition to the Snackbar on opening day is ribs. One of our board members volunteered to cook ribs(he even brought some to a board meeting the other night for us to sample, they we're so good)which I know it will be a hit. Both kids are excited about playing. Although Max would prefer his team be the Giants. Steve Holm who plays for the Giants is from our league. He played out here with Ed's brother when they were growing up. Max wants everyone to keep their eyes on Steve Holm with the Giants, I think Max is one of his biggest fans. I'll have pictures soon. That equipment guy hasn't handed out the uniforms, I don't know what his problem is(maybe they're not in yet).

We Have A Champion Speller on Our Hands

Well Max's school had their Annual Spelling Bee today. There were 3-4 kids per grade for grades 4th-6th. After many rounds Max came out the winner of all three grades. Boy is he excited. And so are we. So we are off to the County Spelling Bee on April 1st. Wish him luck. We know he will do well.

The Yucky Stomach Flu

Well the dreaded yucky stomach flu passed through our house this last week. Took a week for it to pass through all of us. Unfortunately little Jack is still dealing with the side affects of it, hopefully soon his system will get back to normal. I think I jinxed the family when I was talking to the secretaries at the kids school about the flu's(that's right its not just the stomach flu going around) going through the school and told them that I can handle a cold or sinus infection but the stomach flu is the worst, and look what happens. Oh man what a week. And now guess what Max and Emily both have the other flu, which is, high fever, body aches, cough, sneezing. Oh what fun. Thank goodness the sun is shining. Time to open up the house and air it all out. Thank goodness Ed is such a great Mr. Mom. Hopefully this next week brings a much healthier and sunnier week.

Our Weekend Getaway

This past weekend we took a pleasure/business trip to the Bay Area. Ed had a Cal Ripken meeting in Concord on Sunday so we decided to make it a mini vacation. On Friday we headed down in the direction of San Francisco and decided to cut over check out the Stinson Beach area. Well we happened upon Muir Beach and we are so happy that we did. What a beautiful beach. There wasn't any wind that day and it was about 68 degrees. The Max and Emily rolled up their pants ran around in the waves and had a great time. Jack was not so sure of it all. I think the noise of the waves frightened him a bit, nevertheless he had fun. Saturday, we went to the San Francisco Zoo. We always like this zoo, especially the train, which unfortunately was not running that day(bummer). They have a great giraffe enclosure. What amazing animals. They walk so gracefully for having such long legs. Our monkeys really enjoyed seeing all the monkeys in the zoo. The zoo has a great children's area, where you can touch different animals and reptiles. The kids petted an armadillo. They're hairy little guys. There's a farm area and goats are just roaming around. Jack didn't much care for the goats. He much preferred the ducks. On Sunday Ed had his meeting(the kids and visited the local mall)and then we headed home, stopping for a special birthday dinner for Emily. Such a fun and quick getaway.
